Apprenticeship Program Awarded ERiCA Grant
The Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 104 and Bay Area Industry Training Fund (sheet metal apprenticeship program) was recently awarded a significant ERiCA grant through the State of California’s Department of Industrial Relations. The purpose of the ERiCA grant, which stands for Equal Representation in Construction Apprenticeship, is to create pathways for women, non-binary and underserved populations in the construction industry.
The grant’s foundational resources are intended to support pre-apprentices and apprentices in three foundational areas:
- Supporting parents with childcare challenges
- Developing outreach programs
- Community building and mentoring
