Building the Service Program

On May 17, contractors had the opportunity to review the service training equipment and a high-level overview of curriculum at the Fairfield Apprenticeship Training Facility. Of particular interest was the augmented reality (AR) program used by apprentices. This virtual software enables apprentices to simulate existing service calls on specific systems in a safe manner while tracking their dexterity and decision making.
In addition to reviewing existing training equipment, all were given an overview of existing service curriculum and asked to give feedback to JATC co-administrator Tim Myres on how the service curriculum could be tweaked to better meet industry needs. A service curriculum committee made up of management and labor representatives are currently reviewing service curriculum design and desired objectives with the goal for our industry to capture more of the service market. Contractors interested in providing feedback on how the new curriculum can benefit their organizations should contact the co-administrators Tim Myres or Ben Rivera or committee members listed below.
