CAL SMACNA Day at the Capitol
On February 6, more than 20 SMACNA members participated in the 2023 CAL SMACNA Day at the Capitol in Sacramento. Participants attended a welcome reception with several assembly members and senators, followed by a presentation from Michael Shellenberger, bestselling author of Apocalypse Never and San Fran-sicko.
The next morning, an insightful discussion on the 2024 School Facilities Bond by David Walrath from Murdoch, Walrath and Holme, detailed the opportunities our industry will have with this bond. Senator Brian Jones also spoke on the political climate and working relationships in Sacramento.
CAL SMACNA members met with 29 legislative offices to inform them about our current business climate, advocate for specific pieces of legislation and continue to develop relationships with legislators and staff for awareness of measures that impact the sheet metal and HVAC industry.
