Investing in Technology
With a 90% reimbursement rate provided by the International Training Institute’s grant program, the trustees of the Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 104 and Bay Area Industry Training Fund program recently purchased three laser welders, one for each AWS Accredited Welding Lab.
A 3D scanner was also purchased with additional ITI grant funding for the new Livermore facility.
Finally, two $20,000 grant applications were submitted to ITI for additional CAD computers for the two new tech classrooms in the Livermore facility to replace outdated hardware in San Leandro.
Other Apprenticeship updates:
- 11/30/21 YTD budget figures indicate expenses well under projections
- Instructors have completed part 1 of a two-part ventilation verification class
- Apprentice turnout graduation outdoor event for 2021-2022 grads will be scheduled this fall
- San Leandro facility no longer providing active training, building is actively listed for sale
