Livermore Apprenticeship Facility Progress

The new SMW Local 104 and Bay Area Industry Training Fund Joint Apprenticeship Training Center in Livermore is in the design build phase. Architect FCGA has been working with selected General Contractor, J.M. O’Neill, with Sigmatech Consulting assisting.

The Labor/Management Construction Committee meets approximately every six weeks to review progress. It’s anticipated that construction will take approximately 25 weeks after the permits are approved. Part of the design includes an internal structure with varying heights and lift access built to simulate construction project experiences. It is anticipated that this model will present opportunities and challenges for apprentices to navigate as they work on installation and welding problems.

New Local 104 East Bay offices will also be relocating to the building, and Local 104 will lease their space through the training trust.
