More than tools, DEWALT looks to strengthen the future

The DEWALT name first made an appearance in 1924, when Raymond DeWalt perfected the first woodworking machine and started the DEWALT Products company.  Nearly 100 years later, DEWALT has become synonymous with innovation and tough performance.

Enter the company’s Total Trade Solutions — a revolutionary resource that makes it easier to navigate every phase of a project by organizing advanced software, best-in-class products, specialized services and expert training based on trade and application.

“It’s important for us to understand what the SMACNA contractor’s pain points are and then provide a solution through all phases of construction,” said Jon Howland, Director of Marketing for DEWALT’s Industrial and Commercial Division.

Among the most common pain points for contractors are safety concerns without sacrificing performance. DEWALT’s Perform & Protect line was designed to reduce risk on the jobsite, particularly with dust, tool control and vibration in mind. Additionally, DEWALT is committed to providing comprehensive product and jobsite trainings, as well as OSHA compliance trainings to keep teams safe and help reduce recordables.

“Even more than our full product offering, we’re local representation for our contractors,” said Chris Chalfant, Regional Vice President and northern California native. “I’m passionate about providing world-class service to our end users, being a liaison to ensure safety, productivity and profitability are top of mind. I’m excited to be more involved in all of SMACNA’s activities and initiatives in the near future.”

DEWALT has a longstanding history as an industry partner, joining Bay Area SMACNA six years ago as an associate member. The company is also proud to support MCAA, NECA and TAUC as part of the company’s core strategy within the construction industry.

As one of the most recognizable names in the industry, the Stanley Black & Decker family of brands (which includes DEWALT) has become a driving force behind recruiting a new generation of professionals to the skilled trades. The company’s Grow the Trades initiative has committed $30 million over a five-year period to support
trade-focused nonprofits that help grow skills for tradespeople — organizations like the Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE).

“This program has grown legs over the last three years. It started with a handful of contractors, and next year they’re looking at 50 camp sites and upwards of 1,000 kids participating in the program,” Chalfant said. “It’s a passion project that SMACNA is all in on and DEWALT as well, and it’s been a good partnership to bring something more to the needs of contractors beyond the day-to-day.”

DEWALT SUPPORTS HVAC & SHEET METAL ORGANIZATIONS

DEWALT also supports the SMART Heroes and Helmets to Hardhats programs for military veterans, the New Horizons Foundation, women and diversity in construction, and countless other organizations and initiatives aimed at strengthening and elevating the HVAC and sheet metal industry.
